Eef Theunissen
Dr. Eef Theunissen started her PhD in 2001 at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Maastricht, under the supervision of Dr. J. Ramaekers and Prof. W. Riedel. In 2005 she obtained her PhD in psychopharmacology on the sedating and stimulating effects of antihistamines. Her PhD research included studies into the sedating effects of antihistamines on driving and cognitive performance. Three studies were aimed at demonstrating stimulating effects of antihistamines, and testing the hypothesis about the mechanism responsible for this effect. From 2005 until 2007, she worked as a post doc at the University of Maastricht. In this period she studied the effects of a high dose of cannabis on cognitive performance in occasional and daily cannabis users, using Event Related Potentials. Since 2007, Eef works as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Maastricht. She is currently studying the residual effects of a hypnotic with H1 antagonistic activity on driving performance and cognitive functioning in healthy volunteers.
