Jayne Thatcher

 

Jayne E. Thatcher is currently a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Pharmaceutics at the University of Washington. Her thesis work focuses on the biochemical characterization of cytochrome P450s. For her research she has received a National Institute of General Medical Sciences’ Pharmacological Sciences Training Grant and a Society of Forensic Toxicologists’ Educational Research Award.

Jayne received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Washington. While completing her undergraduate degree, she began working at the Washington State Toxicology Laboratory as a Laboratory Assistant. After graduation she was promoted to the position of Forensic Toxicologist. After gaining experience as a Toxicologist she was further promoted to the positions of Quality Assurance Manager and Technical Supervisor.

Jayne has presented at a variety of international, national, and regional meetings on topics including: benzodiazepines, opiates, inhalants, neuropharmacology, pharmacokinetics, roadside testing devices, and quality assurance procedures. She has published work in the Journal of Analytical Toxicology, the Journal of Forensic Sciences, Expert Opinion in Drug Metabolism and Toxicology, and Biochemical Pharmacology.

Jayne is a member of the Society of Forensic Toxicologists and serves on the Continuing Education Committee and the Young Forensic Toxicologist Committee. She is an appointed member of the Transportation Research Board Committee on Alcohol, Other Drugs and Transportation. She is also a member of the American Academy of Pharmaceutical Scientists, American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and International Council on Alcohol, Drugs and Traffic Safety. Jayne was actively involved in the Roadside Testing Assessment (ROSITA) Project, serving as the Washington State Site Coordinator.
