Karen Scott
Dr. Karen Scott currently holds the position of senior lecturer and consultant forensic toxicologist at the section of Forensic Medicine and Science, University of Glasgow. She has over fifteen years experience in the field of forensic and clinical toxicology. She is published in the areas of post-mortem toxicology and hair and alternative matrix testing and is a reviewer for three of the main Forensic Toxicology journals.
Dr. Scott has a Bachelor of Science (honours) degree in Forensic & Analytical Chemistry from the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, UK, 1994) and a PhD in Forensic Toxicology from the University of Glasgow (UK, 1998)). She is a Chartered Scientist, Chartered Chemist and an Authorised Analyst for the purposes of Section 16 of the Road Traffic Offenders Act (UK).
Dr. Scott teaches both undergraduate and post-graduate students from a range of disciplines including science and law. She is the co-ordinator and course leader for a taught MSc (MedSci) course in Forensic Toxicology and holds responsible for the development of research within Forensic Medicine and Science. She holds an advisory position in Forensic Toxicology for the Police Directorate Forensic Science Laboratories in Abu Dhabi.
Dr Scott is a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry Chemist, the Society of Hair Testing, the International Association of Forensic Toxicologists, the Forensic Science Society and the United Kingdom and Ireland Forensic Toxicology Network.
